NOTD: Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish - Rain Forest

I know I have been absent on here for quite some time and I know I promised some hauls. I am devoting most of my time to school at the moment so I am going to be blogging less frequently and will aim for once a week. I will get around to doing hauls, but I am going to split it into categories, e.g. Makeup, clothes etc.

For now though, I have a NOTD for you. I purchased this nail polish in Arizona and couldn't wait to try it out!

Base Coat - Nails Inc 'Kensington Caviar Base Coat - £12.00 from Boots
Nail Polish - Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in 'Rain Forest' - £7.99 from Boots
Top Coat - Orly 'Won't Chip Top Coat' - £11.10 from Amazon

I think we can all agree that it's a beautiful colour, and a very Autumnal one at that!

Sorry for the briefness of this post (and the blurriness of the photo), but look forward to some hauls in the near future.

Nail of the Day: Pomegranate Pink!

Hey everyone. I know I have been failing ever so slightly on the blogging front but I haven't really been doing much to blog about and I haven't got many beauty products with me to review. Also, since arriving in Mexico, I haven't been feeling great. I have had a really itchy, painful rash on my chest and yesterday I was told by the doctor that I was having an allergic reaction to something. So now I am on a 5 days course of medication, am not allowed in the sun without SPF 100, and also am not allowed to eat flour, chocolate, shellfish, strawberries or nuts. Great start to the holiday!

Anyway, I am starting to feel better and when I go to Arizona on 31st so will be doing some haul posts for sure!

So, here is what's been on my nails for a few days now -

Barry M 'Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint - Pomegranate' - £3.99 from Boots

I didn't pack a base coat or top coat as I am planning on buying a new one of each when I get to Arizona.. So for now, I have slightly bumpy, bubbly nails, but hey, I don't really mind for a few days! Plus, I will be buying lots of new nail polish so I can paint my nails before I go back to the UK. I might also be picking up a few bits and bobs from America for a giveaway around Christmas time. Leave a comment on what you would be interested in getting from America - drugstore items only :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, or half term if you are on it.

Thanks for reading.

Nail Of The Day: Sparkly Red

I was feeling a little festive today and wanted to reflect this on my nails. I love how these feel very Christmassy however they are also very Autumnal so I don't look like a complete fool - for example, if I had reindeers on my nails, which I am planning on doing by the way :)

1st Red Colour - Colour Club 'Red-ical Gypsy' - £4.63 (Item + Postage) from eBay

Top Coat - Sally Hansen 'Insta-Dri Top Coat - £5.99 from Boots

Nail Tutorial: Galaxy Design!

So, last night I painted my nails. I wanted to do something I had seen and re-pinned on pinterest. I absolutely love the look I created and hope you will try it too if you like it!

 Products used:
(C = Colour, G = Glitter)

Base Coat - OPI 'Matte Nail Envy' - £7.50 from Amazon
Colour #1 - BCBG 'Reflection'
Glitter #1 - Models Own 'Disco Mix' - £5.00 from Models Own
Colour #2 - OPI 'Skull & Glossbones' - £11.00 from Look Fantastic
Colour #3 - BCBG 'Limelight'
Colour #4 - Barry M 'Turquoise' - £2.99 from Superdrug
Colour #5 - No7 'Lucky Lilac' - £7.00 from Boots
Glitter #2 - Models Own 'Ibiza Mix' - £5.00 from Models Own
Top Coat - Orly 'Won't Chip' - £6.84 from Amazon

Here's how:

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails.

2. Paint an opaque coat of a dark blue/navy polish. This will be the base colour of your galaxy!

3. Next, paint one coat of a purple or blue glitter polish with small flecks.

4. Next, sponge on white (or light grey) polish to create the focal point for your manicure. I chose to do light grey polish because I thought white would be too intense. However, looking at it now, I think I should have done white...

5. Next, to give the white (grey) more depth, sponge on light green, blue and purple polish.

6. After this, sponge on black polish to create the look of deep space.

7. Next, paint on a layer of glitter. I chose a multicoloured glitter but you can use whichever you prefer, just make sure the flecks are fairly large.

8. Finally, add a topcoat to seal in your design, help it last and give it some shine!

Hope you enjoyed this and please send me photos on twitter or by email if you recreate this design, I'd love to see them!!

Nail Of The Day: Meadham Kirchhoff Nail Wraps

I purchased these from Topshop for £7.00 a while ago and was having a clear out of my room when I found these. I decided to give them a go and was very pleased with how they turned out (initially!)

Anyway, these Nail Rock 'Nail Wraps' were featured in Meadham Kirchhoff's Spring fashion show so I thought that was cool! I decided on this design rather than another one of Nail Rock's many other designs because these were just too darn cute (with the exception of the lady parts!)

This is what you will receive along with a leaflet.
- Acetone Wipe
- Nail Wraps
- Buffer / Nail file & Orange Stick

^Simplified Instructions^
(More detailed instructions in the leaflet inside)

1. File nail edges until they are in the shape you desire.
Buff nail surfaces.

2. Wipe nails with the 'Nail Preparation Wipe' which contains acetone. This will remove any residue that may be on nails.

3. Then, you choose the wrap that fits the nail best and align with the cuticle. Then press the nail wrap in place starting at the cuticle (in order to avoid air bubbles!!) These can be cut if needed.

This is how they turned out! I was very pleased with them after I'd finished however, after about 1 hour, they started to peel. I know this was probably due to my application but to be honest, I won't be repurchasing any nail wraps because I think simply painting my nails is far less hassle!

Tell me what you think and if you have any tips for application.

Nail Of The Day: Colour Blocking!

I decided to do something a little different with my nails today and I think I like it but I'm not too sure; tell me what you think!!

Anyway, I normally paint my nails one solid colour or do one accent nail on each hand but I have never tried this trend before. I first saw this on EG Nails It and loved the effect that no nail colour is the same on opposite hands (if that makes sense..)

I went with a muted grey colour and a neon highlighter pink colour.

On my left hand I painted the nails of my ring and middle finger neon pink and the other nails grey.

On my right hand I painted the nails of my ring finger and middle finger grey and the other nails neon pink.

Base coat - OPI Matte Nail Envy - Buy here
Neon pink colour - Models Own 'Bubble Gum' - Buy here
Grey colour - NYC 'Sidewalkers' - Buy here
Top coat - Seche Vite - Buy here

Nail of the Day: Pink Leopard Print!!

So, on my nails today I have Models Own's 'Nude Beige' as a base. Then Barry M's '272 / Shocking Pink' for the leopard spots and for the lines I used the Models Own WAH Nails Nail art pen in 'Black'. This was my first attempt at leopard nails and I think I did pretty good!!

Tell me what you think of my nails and also, if you want a tutorial for these nails :)
