August Favourites 2012

Goodness me, I can't believe August is over already. Seriously, can someone please tell me where that month went.. I go back to school on the 5th September so wish me luck guys!!

Overview:

iPad
So, yes, I got an iPad. I actually only got it on 29th August so I've only had it a few days. But yes, I consider it a favourite :)
I got the white 'New iPad' (or iPad 3).

Michael Kors Crossbody Bag
I have literally only been using this bag this month. I also have this bag in pink but my black one has been used much more this month. This is quite a small bag but I find that it holds all my absolute essentials and then I'm good to go. Also, since I have been using this over a bigger bag, my back and shoulder have not been aching. Bonus! If you'd like to see a 'What's In My Bag' with this bag then leave a comment below :)

Kleenex Blotting Paper
I am in love with these things. There will be a full review coming very soon so I won't give much away. Basically, they are a necessity for people with oily skin, like me! I picked up 2 more packs of these in my recent haul post.

Miss Dior Cherie L'eau
This has been my most worn perfume of the month. I usually don't like citrusy scents but this one is simply amazing. I am so upset that they discontinued this fragrance. I will have to try the original Miss Dior Cherie when this one runs out! Also, how adorable is the bottle, it is by far my favourite out of the perfumes I own.

Maybelline 'One by One' Mascara
At first, I wasn't too keen on this mascara, I thought it was really drying out my lashes which meant it was a pain to remove. However, after giving this another go, and using my MAC Cleanse Off Oil (which is an awesome makeup remover) I had no problem with it. It separates my lashes so well and it honestly makes them look the longest they have ever looked!

The brush allows you to coat every single lash in mascara. It is a really good drugstore mascara!

Sigma F80 Brush & Real Techniques Powder Brush
I use the Sigma F80 brush to apply my foundation. I don't know why, but I really don't like applying foundation with my fingers. This brush is very densely packed and it buffs foundation in like a dream. I could not be without this brush.

The real techniques powder brush has replaced my love for the Sigma (F20) Large Powder Brush. I do still use my sigma powder brush but I find that the real techniques brush just does a slightly better job. I still love Sigma brushes don't get me wrong.. I was thinking of doing a Makeup Brush Collection post if you guys would be interested??

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
I don't really know what to say about this powder. It is awesome. That's all. :)

La Roche-Posay 'Effaclar Duo'
Another favourite of the month would have to be Effaclar Duo. Since I started using it I have noticed a big difference in the overall texture of my skin. I also think my acne scarring has faded slightly since using this. I like it so much that I picked up two other products from the Effaclar line which you can see in my recent haul

Favourite song of the month:
Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
View on iTunes - here

Favourite TV Show of the month:

Pretty Little Liars. I am in love with this show!

Hope you enjoyed seeing all my favourites of the month of August!

Haul - Boots, Superdrug and H&M - 3/08/12

I went shopping yesterday and got a few fashion, makeup and skincare items. Hope you enjoy!!

Boots:

Botanics 'Shine Away Mattifying Day Cream SPF15' - £3.33 from Boots (normally £4.99)
Ok so firstly, I bought a new day cream. I am currently using the 'Kiehl's 'Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15' but that has almost run out (See here in my Current Morning Skincare Routine. The Kiehl's moisturiser is alright but I didn't really want to spend another £17 for such a small bottle. I went with this moisturiser because I wanted something with SPF (which this has) and also wanted something to help with my oiliness (which I don't think my Kiehl's one does). Also, this moisturiser smells amazing, slightly citrusy and orangey!! The one downside in my opinion is that it's in a jar instead of a bottle with a pump...

I was so intrigued by the Botanics Range in Boots and I really want to try the Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask, the 100% Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz and maybe even the 82% Organic Softening Cleanser when my Clinique cleanser runs out.

Soap & Glory 'The Fab Pore Facial Peel' - £8.00 from Boots (Currently on 3 for 2 promotion)
I bought this from reading the glowing reviews on the Boots website and because it was suited to my skin type, i.e. 'ideal for greasy, spot prone or problem skin, or for a strategic attack on a misbehaving T-zone. I also liked the idea that you could leave the mask on for 5 minutes for a 'quick refresher' or 15 minutes for a 'real deep-cleaning do it yourself kind of facial'. I also love that this mask contains Salicylic Acid. The texture of this mask is perfect. It is thick and creamy just how I think masks should be. However, it doesn't seem like much of a 'peel' to me..

Soap & Glory 'Off Your Face 25 Cleansing Cloths' - £4.50 from Boots (I got these FREE with the 3 for 2 deal)
Ok, so I am loving my No7 Wipes (which I bought with a £5 off voucher making them £2) at the moment but I am almost out so I needed some new face wipes. I wasn't about to fork out £7 for some more of the No7 wipes so I decided to get these as my free product. I don't know how I feel about these yet. Personally, I think my No7 wipes are better at taking off my makeup (particularly mascara) as they are slightly wetter. Also, I don't really like the smell, it is quite herbal and almost minty. Other than that, they are fairly good and also, the packaging is so stinking cute!

Soap & Glory 'Clean On Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel' - £5.50 from Boots (Currently on 3 for 2 promotion)
I needed a new shower gel and thought this looked really nice. This amazing smelling, creamy shower gel with built in body lotion comes in a 500ml pump bottle which should last a while! I used it last night and it lathers really well, and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth!! I love this stuff already and I've only used it once. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yardley 'Hand Cream - Peony' - £3.99 from Boots
I didn't really need a new hand cream to be honest because I love Soap & Glory's 'Hand Food'. However, I walked past this and it immediately caught my eye because of the pink details! Anyway, I smelt it and honestly, this stuff smells so good - I put it in my basket straight away. I tried this when I got home and it is quite a thick hand cream which I like. It also sinks in really quickly and is not greasy at all. However, I did think my hands felt drier quicker when using this as apposed to my trusty Hand Food. However, I really like it and you also get a pretty decent amount (100ml).

Superdrug:

MeMeMe 'Flawless Cream Foundation - 01 Porcelain Pure' - £12.50 from MeMeMe Cosmetics
I wanted to try out a new foundation instead of my Revlon Colorstay Foundation and after watching Zoella's Foundation Review Video I decided to try this one out. I was a bit hesitant because of the price and the shoddy shade selection (only 4 colours in total) but I took the plunge and purchased the lightest of the 4 (which I tested on my hand in Superdrug and it looked fairly close to my skin colour). Anyway, when I got home, I tested it out again this time on my face and it matches ok but is slightly orange/yellow toned. I think this will match me perfectly when I fake tan so I am going to do that in the next few days when I get a chance! Other than that, I really like the airless pump bottle and think it looks sleek and stylish. I also think it is medium coverage but I can make it full with concealer and powder. However, I do think £12.50 is perhaps a bit steep!!

MeMeMe 'Shimmer Stack - Bronze' - £9.99 from MeMeMe Cosmetics (On offer for £7.99 from Superdrug)
Swatches - Individual shades, then swirled together
I partly just bought this to do a comparison between this and Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick but also because it looked like such a pretty product and was on offer. I like the packaging and the big mirror however it is a bit bulky. I also like the fact that the individual colours can be sussed as eyeshadows as well. I think this is a multi-use product however after I have used it for a bit, I might give it to my sister because I do have the Bobbi Brown version and I don't need two of the same product..

Cosmopolitan 'Perfect Finish Make-Up Sponges' - £2.19 from Superdrug
I bought these sponges to try and do ombre nails. I will post a tutorial if I'm successful!! I also thought they were cuter than the other sponges because they were flower shaped :)

MUA 'Lip Boom - 02 Bring It' - £3 from Superdrug
This product has a matte lipstick at one end and a shimmery, glittery lipstick at the other. It also has a removable cap with some kind of product in. If anyone knows what this is or even if you are meant to use it then leave a comment because I am confused by it. Anyway, they lipstick is very pigmented and so is the gloss. They can be paired together or worn separately. I think the lipgloss looks like it might be a bit chunky so I'll see how I like that but otherwise it looks like a good product!

H&M:
H&M '4-Pack Hair Claws' - £1.99 from H&M
I bought these to just get my hair out of my face when I can't be bothered to do anything with it.. They are just simple, black hair clasps that you can pretty much find anywhere!

H&M Jumper - Navy and Coral - £14.99 each from H&M
I have this exact jumper in a cream colour and I love it for Summer in the UK because it's never really that hot. It is thin and soft and amazing and you should go and get one right now!!

WOW, that was a long post. Hope you didn't give up half way.

I will be doing a giveaway when I get to 20 followers and will be including some MUA products!

Thanks for reading. xoxo

Current Morning Face Routine - Skincare and Foundation

I have been using this morning skincare routine for around 3 months now and I like it, it's easy, however, I can't help but feel that it could be better. If anybody has any suggestions for oily/ combination skin, please comment!

Cleanser - Clinique's 'Liquid Facial Soap - Mild' - Buy here

This cleanser is actually the dry skin formula because I had a sample of this one and really liked it as it didn't dry out my skin like some cleansers do. I have acne prone skin so some cleansers tend to dry out any acne I have and makes it more noticeable and more difficult to cover up.
Anyway, this cleanser lathers really nicely and is fragrance-free which is something I like in a cleanser. Also, the 200ml bottle has lasted me a very long time which makes the £14.00 price tag seem reasonable. However, it is a very gentle cleanser and I'm not sure it really does anything to combat my acne. I think I may try a different cleanser when I run out of this one.

Eye Cream - Clinique 'All About Eyes' - buy here

After cleansing my face, I apply my eye cream by lightly tapping it under my eyes. This pot is actually a sample that I got in one of Clinique's gift offers that they frequently do - you had to buy two products, one being skincare, in order to get a free gift. This mini pot is 7ml so contains half the product of a full size tub which retails for £23.00 at Boots. This tub has lasted me for about 2 months and I am only around a third of the way through it. I have definitely noticed a difference when using it as it definitely reduces puffiness and minimises dark circles. Overall, a great product and I think I will repurchase it, although I do really want to try Bobbi Brown's 'Extra Repair Eye Cream' but it is £40 so I don't know if it's worth it. Leave a comment if you have tried it!!

Moisturiser - Kiehl's 'Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15' - buy here

After I apply my eye cream, I pat this moisturiser all over my face. It sinks in to my skin really nicely and quickly however does leave my face feeling kind of greasy but it doesn't bother me that much because I usually just apply makeup afterwards so it doesn't stay that way for long. I love that this has SPF15 in it for the Summer and I honestly don't mind the slight sunscreen scent of this product although I know some people can't stand that smell so I guess it's a matter of personal preference..

Setting Spray / Primer - Urban Decay 'De Slick' - buy here

I use this religiously every morning that I apply makeup (because we all know sometimes you just can't be bothered!!) about 10 minutes after applying moisturiser and before applying my foundation or BB cream. I then use it after my foundation (but before my powder) as well to help me stay vaguely shine free and help my foundation last longer. I think this product is well worth the money because a bottle does last a really long time and also, the cooling effect of the spray really wakes you up in the morning!

Foundation - Revlon 'Colorstay' - buy here

Because it's Summer (not that you'd know it in the UK) I haven't really been wanting to wear a full coverage foundation every day so have generally been reaching for one of the two BB creams below. However, I have been wearing my trusty colorstay foundation when I want something that covers my blemishes fully or when I know I will be out all day and want my foundation to stay put! I do really like this foundation however I find that you have to blend it fairly quickly because it does dry pretty fast.. I have been through about 3 bottles of this foundation though and will definitely be repurchasing it when mine runs out. I apply this with my Sigma 'Flat Top Kabuki' brush which can be purchased from here.

BB Cream #1 - No7's 'Beautiful Skin BB Cream' - Buy here

I got this BB Cream in 'Light' however although it blends out to be fairly sheer, I would definitely say that this would not suit very pale girls. This BB cream has a medium to thick consistency but in my opinion is a light to medium coverage product. Therefore I feel the need to use quite a lot of concealer to cover up blemishes and acne scarring and this makes it feel slightly more cakey and thick than I would like. I bought this with a No7 £5 off voucher so it came to £7.95. I don't think I would repurchase this at £12.95 however I would repurchase if I had another £5 off voucher as unlike Dr Jart's BB cream (below), this BB cream doesn't tend to be as drying on the skin and does have a really nice natural finish when applied with your fingers.

BB Cream #2 - Dr Jart's 'Regenerating Beauty Balm' - Buy here

As I said above, I thought this BB cream tended to dry out my skin slightly however not so much that I don't love this product. For a BB cream this product has amazing coverage. The cream is very thick however blends like a dream. I'd say this product could be either light, medium or heavy coverage depending on how it is applied. I find that the highest coverage is achieved when applied with your fingers. I also use concealer and powder over the top and find that coverage is enough for me. It also doesn't feel heavy on my skin at all but I do find that I tend to get a little shiny throughout the day so you do need to add powder to combat that. This product was very pricey at £21.00 however I think it was worth it because a little really does go a long way!

Concealer - MAC 'Studio Finish Concealer' - Buy here

This concealer is very creamy and blends very well. However, it does tend to look a little cakey and make my makeup feel more heavy. I really don't like that feeling and feel like there must be better concealers out there so I won't be repurchasing this. However, it does it's job for now and it does cover blemishes and dark circles fairly well but I don't think it works for me personally...

Powder #1 - Maybelline's 'Dream Matte Powder' - Buy here

I use this powder over the one below when I am paler or when I haven't applied fake tan as it is lighter than the MAC powder. I love this powder and feel like it completely keeps shine at bay! I apply it with the powder puff that it came with and then brush off any excess powder with my Sigma 'F30 - Large Powder Brush' which can be purchased from here and it works a dream!!!!! Seriously, go get some!

Powder #2 - MAC 'Mineralise Skinfinish Natural' - Buy here

This powder is the one I use when I am tanned and honestly I would say save your money and just get the 'Dream Matte Powder'. I wish I had just got Maybelline's powder in a darker colour because I don't feel that this does as good a job at keeping me shine free.

I will be posting my current nighttime skincare routine soon so stay tuned for that and leave any suggestions for products you think I might like!
